Jihadists Gaining Ground: First English Al Qaeda Magazine

2010 July 2

by Christine Williams

Al Qaeda’s popular online Arabic magazine in the Arab Peninsula (AQAP) is set to publish its first English magazine aimed at recruiting young Jihadists. The magazine–Sada al-Malahim (Echo of the Battle) represents the spread of a dangerous warfront:  the internet, a virtually impossible medium to police.  This spells bad news for Western security specialists trying to curb the spread of Radicalism.   AQAP topped Washington’s agenda after being linked to Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s failed Christmas Day bombing attempt on a Detroit bound flight.

Contributors to this magazine include Yemen’s Al Qaeda Arab Peninsula and Al Aaeda’s arm in Somalia (the Islamic insurgency group: Al Shabaab).    U.S. citizen Anwar al Awlaki–the 39-year-old Islamic Cleric, born in New Mexico– is a featured guest writer.  Awlaki not only declared violent Jihad on the country of his citizenship, he also serves Al Qaeda as a senior terrorism motivator, recruiter and trainer and is known to have recruited at least 6 Toronto youth to Somalia.

According to a Fox report the English AQAP, which failed to fully launch on July 1st due a computer glitch, features how to “Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom.”  Said a Scholar and CIA officer Bruce Riedel:

“[It] is clearly intended for the aspiring jihadist in the U.S. or U.K. who may be the next Fort Hood murderer or Times Square bomber,” – Fox News

Now in Toronto, the widely popular radical Imam recently banned from Canada will still get his destructive message out.  Dr. Zakir Naik was blocked by Canadian officials from being the keynote speaker at the Toronto Convention Center this weekend in one of North America’s largest Islamic Conferences. He still gets the chance to address upwards of 10-thousand attendees at this conference via video satellite, a disturbing number of people willing to hear his message. Naik has called for every Muslim to be a terrorist,  referred to Jews as “our staunchest enemies”, blamed Western women for getting themselves raped because of how they dress, and advocates death to homosexuals.

Radicalism is very real despite what folks like the fatuous ‘Opinionator’  Robert Wright had to say about the myth of modern Jihad .  He undermines the warnings of Dr. Daniel Pipes about Jihad and the need to fight it.  In fact Wright gives the bomb over to Jihadists, completely being oblivious to the fact that they are murdering an astronomical number of their fellow Muslims overseas.  He ridiculously pledges his support to Shahzad of all people over Pipes.

Now we have Shahzad suggesting roughly the opposite — that the holy war could end if America would stop using military force….“Until the hour the U.S. pulls its forces from Iraq and Afghanistan and stops the drone strikes in Somalia and Yemen and in Pakistan and stops the occupation of Muslim lands and stops killing the Muslims and stops reporting the Muslims to its government, we will be attacking U.S., and I plead guilty to that.”

My point is just that, if you take Shahzad at his word, there’s more cause for hope than if Pipes were right. – New York Times

What planet is Wright living on?  The widespread evidence about the rise of Radicalism and growing Jihadization speaks for itself.  Unfortunately, Leftists typically share Wright’s views about Western guilt, and falsely allocate blame, enabling Western enemies.  How will this type of mentality justify the brutality behind the death of Canada’s Aqsa Parvez?  Aqsa’s radical father blamed her actions for making him kill her for bringing dishonor to the family.  In fact, let’s pat the “Toronto 18″ on the back too and blame Canada.  Jihadists are gaining ground in the West and their goal is to kill the infidels for being ‘infidels’ and those they consider to be Apostates
